Altamont is an extremely convenient part of West Vancouver for travelling by car. The majority of properties for sale are a rather short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and parking is easy. However, getting around by transit can be very difficult in Altamont by reason of the low service level. Nevertheless, property owners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most residences. It is inconvenient for people walking to navigate Altamont since many daily needs are impractical to meet without the use of a vehicle. This neighbourhood is also not very bike-friendly because riding is made difficult by the typically hilly area, and there are very few bike lanes.
Services
It is a reasonably short walk to reach primary schools and daycares from anywhere in Altamont. In contrast, this area does not have any high schools. With regards to food, shopping for one's groceries typically demands the use of a car in Altamont.
Character
The character of Altamont is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. There are around 10 parks nearby for residents to check out and they are very well-distributed, making it easy to reach them. This part of West Vancouver is also reasonably good for those who need quiet areas, as the streets are usually peaceful - however noise can be problematic closer to the railway line or Trans-Canada Highway.
