It is inconvenient for people walking to navigate Altamont since many daily needs are impractical to meet without the use of a vehicle. This neighbourhood is also not very bike-friendly because riding is made difficult by the typically hilly area, and there are very few bike lanes.

It is a reasonably short walk to reach primary schools and daycares from anywhere in Altamont. In contrast, this area does not have any high schools. With regards to food, shopping for one's groceries typically demands the use of a car in Altamont.
