Transportation

Bay Ridges is home to a fairly good public transit system thanks to Pickering Station with access to the Lakeshore East Line, and a few nearby bus lines. On the other hand, moving around by bicycle is challenging in this area since the bicycling network is not very well-developed, and cyclists encounter quite a few hills. Travelling by foot is not very popular in this part of Pickering, even though many day-to-day needs are easy to carry out without the use of a vehicle. In contrast, moving around by car is very convenient in Bay Ridges. Nearby highways, such as Highway 401, are very easy to reach from any location in Bay Ridges, and it is very convenient to park.

As far as education is concerned, parents and their children will appreciate the proximity to daycares and primary schools, which are within walking distance from most homes for sale in this neighbourhood. In contrast, there are no high schools in this part of Pickering.

Character

Bay Ridges is reasonably good for those who enjoy a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several noisier areas, especially near Highway 401 or one of the railway lines. Parks are distributed sporadically, which makes them very hard to reach.
