Iris will draw homeowners that value a diversity of methods of transportation. Iris is an extremely convenient part of Ottawa for getting around by car. It is a short car ride to the closest highway, such as Highway 417, from any home in Iris, and it is easy to park. Owing to 2 rapid transit stations (Iris 2a and Iris 1a) on the 75 |, and approximately 40 nearby bus lines, travelling by public transit is also straightforward in this part of Ottawa. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this part of the city, even though running day-to-day errands is convenient by walking. In contrast, biking is easy in Iris because the bicycling network is quite well-developed.

Getting to the nearest supermarket on foot is possible for some, but not all, property owners in this part of the city. However, Iris is a fairly good place in which to go out to eat, for example along Cobden Road, and a limited selection of coffee shops can be found as well. It is also a rather short walk to a good selection of clothing stores. When it comes to education, daycares and schools are convenient to get to on foot from most properties for sale in Iris.

Iris is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. This area is quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case around Highway 417. Lastly, it is easy to access green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to discover.
