Professional Experience

Derek Weatherhead, as you know, is a Realtor in the beautiful Okanagan valley. He was born and raised not far from here in Kamloops B.C, and decided to develop his roots in Kelowna B.C where he now calls home. In May 2010 he started with Royal LePage Kelowna on a journey to become one of the top agents in the Okanagan Valley. When Derek isn’t helping people with their real estate needs or studying and researching real estate for his own interest, you can find him on the golf course, on one of the beautiful lakes in Kelowna, spending time with his family, or at Big White! In his early days he worked as a carpenter in his uncle's manufacturing shop. Derek then went on to complete a carpentry apprenticeship and achieved journeyman status in carpentry. His first construction experience was in finishing carpentry, installing baseboards, casing, and doors in Penticton B.C. Then he went on to framing and building foundations on homes in Sun Peaks, Calgary and Vernon. Finally, Derek finished his apprenticeship with Sawchuk Developments, a commercial construction contractor here in Kelowna. It was building beautiful homes and large commercial buildings that made Derek fall in love with real estate. One residential contractor Derek worked for was absent quite often leaving him to work and communicate with both trades and the clients. He was organizing construction sites, and helping trades and clients get what they required. Communicating with trades and clients to help their dreams come true quickly became his favorite part. He had found his place, working with people and their homes. As Derek continued his education he began to understand the different areas of real estate and development. It intrigued him to learn more and pushed him to understand more of the sales and financial aspects of real estate. Since 2010 Derek has worked hard to study, be a student as well as a teacher in all areas of real estate. Focusing on both allows him to find the best possible practices to help clients purchase real estate, and find the most creative and effective listing and marketing programs to sell properties faster and for more money. Derek has closed transactions in all price ranges, and all property types. From small homes with his first-time home buyers, all the way up to luxury homes on our beautiful Okanagan lakefront. Derek's goal is to provide the best possible real estate experience, guidance and education. Helping you to make the best possible decisions when dealing with your real estate.
